Cold Brew Caffeine Statistics 2026: Label-Transcribed Data for 18 Products

Reference Dataset · Compiled 22 September 2026

Caffeine, sugar, calories and ingredient counts for 18 ready-to-drink cold brew products — every figure transcribed from a published label or an official manufacturer source, with the source named and the date recorded. Normalized to milligrams per fluid ounce.

Why this page exists. Nearly every “strongest cold brew” list on the internet cites another list. Numbers get copied between articles until nobody can trace them to a can. We went to the labels instead. Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, this page says so rather than filling the gap with an estimate — and that turns out to be the single most important finding here.

Methodology

Five rules governed every cell in the tables below.

  1. Labels and official sources only. Each figure comes from a manufacturer’s published nutrition panel, a manufacturer product page, or a retailer product page displaying a legible manufacturer-supplied label image. Where a retailer was the source, the retailer is named. No roundup articles, no caffeine aggregator databases, no blogs — including our own earlier posts.
  2. Unpublished means unpublished. If a manufacturer does not publish a figure, the cell reads not published. Nothing is estimated, interpolated, averaged, or carried across container sizes.
  3. Normalized to mg per fluid ounce. Both per-container and per-ounce figures are shown, because they produce different answers and that difference is the whole point.
  4. The serving basis is stated on every row. A 48 oz bottle publishing “250 mg per serving” is not comparable to an 8 oz can publishing “200 mg per can” unless you know what a serving is. Roughly half the products here publish per-serving on a multi-serve container.
  5. Exclusions are declared, not silent. See the exclusions section below.

The Central Finding: Most Brands Don’t Publish

Of the 18 products examined, four publish no caffeine figure at all through any official channel: Chameleon’s Black RTD, Califia Farms’ Pure Black, Starbucks’ 11 oz Black Unsweetened bottle, and Peet’s Baridi Black. Califia’s own FAQ explicitly declines to publish per-product caffeine.

This matters more than any ranking. Caffeine content is not a required element of the Nutrition Facts panel, so a brand discloses it only if it chooses to. Every widely-circulated number for these four products traces back to a third-party estimate that has been copied forward until it acquired the appearance of fact.

Chameleon Cold-Brew, resolved — and this is the most consequential finding on this page. Figures of 100, 150, 190, 200, 210, 230 and 270 mg all circulate for Chameleon’s black cold brew. We checked the product page, the brand FAQ, and all four label photographs (front, both sides, back) for the 10 fl oz Black Ready-to-Drink bottle, UPC 851220003605. Chameleon publishes no milligram figure for this product. None. The label’s only reference to caffeine is qualitative. Every number attributed to Chameleon in the wild is an aggregator invention — not a misreading of the label, but a figure with no label behind it at all. The 32 oz concentrate is a separate product and also publishes no figure, because the user controls the dilution.

Where Bare Brew actually stands — stated plainly

Bare Brew publishes the highest figure in this table at 26.7 mg per fluid ounce. Four things have to be said alongside that, or the number is misleading:

  • Bare Brew’s own row is the weakest-sourced in the table. Every competitor figure above comes from a photographed nutrition panel or an official product database. Bare Brew’s comes from its own product page copy. Bare Brew does not currently publish a photographed Nutrition Facts panel anywhere on its website. By the standard this page applies to everyone else, that is a lower grade of evidence, and readers should weigh it accordingly until a panel image is published.
  • The margin is narrow. 26.7 versus Wandering Bear’s 25.0 is a gap of 1.7 mg per fluid ounce — about 6%. Wandering Bear’s own label says “approximately,” and the brand elsewhere publishes a 140–160 mg range for the same 6 fl oz serving. Within that range, the two products overlap. This is not a decisive lead and should not be described as one.
  • A discontinued product beat it by a wide margin. Death Wish’s 8 fl oz canned cold brew delivered roughly 300 mg per can — 37.5 mg per fluid ounce, far above anything currently sold. It launched in June 2019 and has not been sold since 2021. It also reached that level partly through added organic caffeine, which was a declared ingredient, rather than through extraction alone.
  • Per ounce is not the same as per serving. If you drink a 12 fl oz serving of Starbucks’ 40 oz bottle, you get 255 mg. A single 8 oz Wandering Bear can gives you 200 mg. What you actually consume depends on how much you pour, not on which brand is densest.

On “strongest.” Four of the eighteen products here publish nothing at all, and one of the highest figures ever recorded in this category belonged to a can that was pulled five years ago and used supplemental caffeine. Any page claiming to name the definitive strongest canned cold brew is claiming more certainty than the available label data supports. Density is a specification, not a virtue — and it is not what makes a coffee worth drinking twice.

Table 2 — Per Container

The same products ranked by total caffeine in the container as sold. This ordering rewards whoever ships the largest vessel, which is why it should never be used to compare products of different sizes — but it is what a buyer holding one unit actually receives.

Product Container Total caffeine in container Derivation
Bizzy Organic Medium Roast 48 fl oz ~1,000 mg 4 servings × 250 mg (arithmetic, not a label figure)
Death Wish Cold Brew, Unsweetened 48 fl oz ~1,000–1,060 mg 4 servings × 250–265 mg (arithmetic, not a label figure)
Starbucks Cold Brew Black Unsweet 40 fl oz ~765 mg 3 servings × 255 mg (arithmetic, not a label figure)
Wandering Bear Original Black 32 fl oz ~750 mg 5 servings × 150 mg (arithmetic, not a label figure)
STōK Un-Sweet Black 48 fl oz ~500 mg 4 servings × 125 mg (arithmetic, not a label figure)
Bare Brew Cold Brew 12 fl oz 320 mg Published per can
RISE Original Black 11 fl oz 270 mg Published per can
High Brew Black Triple Shot 11 fl oz 225 mg Published per can · extra-strength line
La Colombe Black Unsweetened 11 fl oz 220 mg Published per can
Wandering Bear Original Black 8 fl oz 200 mg Published per can
High Brew Nitro Cold Brew 10 fl oz 200 mg Published per can
La Colombe Cold Brew 9 fl oz 180 mg Published per can
Starbucks Nitro Black Unsweetened 9.6 fl oz 155 mg Published per can
High Brew Black & Bold 8 fl oz 140 mg Published per can

Among single-serve containers — products packaged as one unit intended to be drunk in one sitting — Bare Brew’s 320 mg is the highest published figure in this set. That scope qualifier matters: every multi-serve bottle above it holds more total caffeine, and five of them hold at least 500 mg. The two tables produce different orderings, and neither is “the” answer.

Multi-serve totals above are derived by multiplication and are labeled as such. No manufacturer in this set publishes a per-container caffeine total for a multi-serve product.

Exclusions, Stated

  • Extra-strength lines are listed separately. Where a brand sells a high-caffeine line extension alongside a standard cold brew, the standard product appears in Table 1 so that a halo SKU does not stand in for the core product. The only true extra-strength cold brew encountered was High Brew’s Black Triple Shot (11 fl oz, 225 mg, 20.5 mg/fl oz) — which, notably, is lower per ounce than several standard products. STōK’s Extra Bold Black is a separate SKU from Un-Sweet Black and was not transcribed in this pass. High Brew’s “Double Espresso” is a flavor name, not a strength tier; the brand says so explicitly.
  • Concentrates are excluded from the primary table because caffeine per ounce depends on how the drinker dilutes it. Chameleon’s 32 oz concentrate publishes no caffeine figure for exactly this reason.
  • Sweetened cold brews, lattes and dairy or oat SKUs are excluded. Death Wish’s canned products are all Cold Brew Lattes (11 oz, 120–140 mg) and are not comparable to black cold brew.
  • Discontinued products are not ranked against current ones. They appear only in the historical note.
  • Nitro is treated as a format, not a strength tier, and nitro products appear in the standard table.

Conflicts Found Inside Manufacturer Sources

Six products had figures that contradicted themselves within the brand’s own published material. Recorded here because a reference page that hid them would be less useful, not more.

Brand Conflict Resolution applied
Death Wish (48 oz) Same page states “250 mg based on a standard 6 oz serving” and “250 mg per 12 oz serving” — a 2× difference 12 oz basis used. The 6 oz phrasing is boilerplate reused from the brand’s ground-coffee pages. Corroborated by the company’s September 2025 press release (“265 mg per serving”, 10 cal) and trade press quoting the company (“four 12-ounce servings”). The printed panel could not be obtained; this remains the page’s least certain row.
Wandering Bear (8 oz can) Page bullet says ~140 mg; printed label, page FAQ and meta description all say 200 mg 200 mg used — the printed label governs. The 140 mg bullet appears verbatim on another product page and is template text.
Bizzy (Light Roast) Product page advertises 302 mg; the label image on that same page says 250 mg Light Roast excluded from Table 1 pending resolution. Medium Roast (250 mg, label-verified) used instead.
Bizzy (Medium Roast) Page text says “reverse osmosis water”; label image says “purified water with added minerals for taste” Label wording used.
High Brew (Black & Bold) Can image says 10 cal / 0 g sugar; brand FAQ chart says 20 cal / 1 g sugar Can image used as the more current printed panel. Cane sugar remains a declared ingredient either way.
Bare Brew Homepage says “up to 320 mg”; all other pages state a flat 320 mg. Product page lists ingredients coffee-first; the panel transcription lists water-first Disclosed rather than resolved. Bare Brew is correcting its own site to a single consistent statement and to label ingredient order. Pending that, treat 320 mg as the brand’s stated figure and note the hedge exists.

Historical: The Discontinued Record-Holder

Death Wish Coffee launched an 8 fl oz canned cold brew in June 2019 at approximately 300 mg per can — 37.5 mg per fluid ounce, higher than any product currently sold in this category. Its product pages returned 404 from 2021 onward and it is absent from the brand’s live catalog and its own caffeine page as of 22 September 2026.

Two facts belong with that number. The declared ingredient statement included organic caffeine as an added ingredient alongside cold brewed coffee and natural flavor — so the 300 mg was not achieved through extraction alone. And a separate, earlier Death Wish Nitro Cold Brew (11 oz) was recalled in September 2017 over a botulism risk. Death Wish’s current cold brew is a 48 oz multi-serve bottle at roughly 20.8–22.1 mg per fluid ounce.

Corrections and Reuse

This dataset is free to cite, quote and reproduce with attribution to Bare Brew and a link to this page. If you are a brand listed here and a figure is wrong, or you publish a panel we could not find, write to drinkbarebrew@gmail.com and the row will be corrected with the change noted.

We would rather be corrected than cited incorrectly. That includes our own row — see the note above about Bare Brew’s missing panel image, which we regard as the most significant weakness on this page.

Disclosure

This page is published by Bare Brew, which sells one of the products listed. That is a conflict of interest, and the appropriate response to it is a methodology strict enough to constrain the publisher. The rules at the top of this page were applied to Bare Brew’s own product first, which is why its row carries the sourcing caveat it does. Readers should verify any figure that matters to them against the source listed.

Nothing on this page is health advice. Caffeine tolerance varies; the FDA cites 400 mg per day as a level not generally associated with negative effects for healthy adults, which is a population-level guideline and not a recommendation for any individual.
